Mangal Retrograde 2018

MahaShivaRatri 24-Feb-2017

My dear readers,

Some of you would have known ( and that’s great!) but for those who are unaware, on this day, two important tithi’s (lunar phase) comes together – the Pradosham & MahaShivaRatri.

The crescent-shaped Moon is in it’s waning state with 7.1% illumination. This is observed as at today the 24th of February 2017 10:35 hrs, Kuala Lumpur – Malaysia. The new moon (Amāvāsyā) will be on the 26th February 2017 at 22::58 hrs.

Year: Durmukha
Month: Magha
Tithi: Krishna Trayodasi [presiding deity: Guru Bhagawan)

Shiva Ratri falls on the last 2 days of the Krishna pakṣa i.e;  Trayodasi, Chathurdasi on every lunar cycle. However, just before the spring equinox, in the Indian month of Magha (Jan/Feb – Gregorian)  the ShivaRatri is called as MahaShivaRatri (the great night of Lord Shiva) for its enormous spiritual potency. Shiva bhaktas’ (devotees) or anyone in the path of spirituality should/must take advantage as Lord Shiva Himself offer His graces to the pure and true spiritual seekers.
